Vickie Stokes is an artist based in Marysville, Washington. She grew up in Shoreline, Washington, and began drawing as a small child. She had a supportive atmosphere at home and always enjoyed art classes. Eventually, she went to Washington State University, where she majored in art with a focus on watercolor.
While raising her three children, Vickie taught art to students in grades K-12. But it wasn’t long before she became a student again herself. She studied under the direction of Janet Hamilton, who helped her realize her passion for pastels. She found the medium allowed her to capture the light and color she sees in the world. It was then that she also learned the wonders of painting outdoors, both at home in the Pacific Northwest and overseas.
Vickie has never stopped and never will stop painting. That’s even though each work may come with challenges. But when she works through the difficulties, she finds she’s able to create something truly special on the canvas in front of her. She’s grateful for the world around her, which is a continual source of inspiration.
